My Aim In Life

Every person needs to have some aim or ambition in life. It gives a definite direction to life. All of us have some lofty ambitions in life. Some want to become doctor, some engineer and some others want to become lawyers, so that they may be able to earn a lot of money. These are all selfish ambitions, but such aspirants cannot be blamed. In modern society everybody is crazy to acquire as much wealth as he or she can. To them money is God.
But I do not have such high ambition. I have a very humble ambition. I want to become a social worker. I feel that social service is a duty. Every individual should try to pay back the debt of the society, which he has received from it. Social service is a way of giving back to society, just a tiny portion of what one has taken from it.
There are many inspiring examples of social and humanitarian service. Florence Nightingale, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, all lived and died in the service of humanity. Mahatma Gandhi used to advise the youth to go to the villages and work there. We knew that more than seventy percent people of our country live in villages. They are illiterate and god-fearing people. It is because of illiteracy and superstitious that they are being exploited likes anything. I want to do some service to them.
After I finish my education I will go back to my village and start working for them. As the saying goes-‘charity begins at home’-I want to begin my work of social service from my own village. I will try to educate the people of my village and make them aware of their rights. I will try to teach them to keep their houses and streets clean, and also advise them to educate their children. I wish to make my village an ideal one by my service. May god help me in doing the work that I have aimed to do.
